MYAGDI: The 35.5 MW Upper Myagdi-1 Hydropower Project has achieved a breakthrough in a section of its tunnel, according to project developer Myagdi Hydropower.
The breakthrough was achieved on Wednesday along the tunnel extending from the adit at Chhahari in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-4 in Myagdi district towards the project’s dam. The project’s powerhouse is under construction at Bharwang in Malika Rural Municipality-7.
Project Chief Jyoti Kumar KC said a 2,506.39-metre section of the tunnel linking the adit and the dam had been excavated.
“Out of the total 3,283.32 metres of the tunnel from the adit in Chhahari to the dam in Dhawalagiri-4, 1,973 metres have been completed so far,” KC said.
“Work is underway with the goal of completing the remaining tunnel within a few months,” he added.
KC said the project had achieved 56% overall progress and was expected to be completed next year.
